Healing with Zensa
Dancing with Luminesque Dance has been one of the most exciting and empowering things I have ever done. So, after a year of dancing, it was hard to say goodbye when I stepped back for a hiatus this Spring/Summer term. While it’s bittersweet, the break is coming at a good time. Work is busy, it’s nice to have an extra day back for family and friends, and my body enjoys the recovery.
Dancing in heels may not seem like intense work, but when you consider all the floor work we do in a routine, the scrapes and bruises rack up – particularly on hips and knees. It’s never anything too bad, except when I fell off the stage during a dress rehearsal for the latest Luminesque show. While practising a group exit, I got swept off and landed straight on my left knee!
Don’t worry – I was okay for the most part. The show was the following week, so you better believe I practised “R.I.C.E” (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) whenever possible. I escaped any gross bruising in time for my show, BUT I was left with a pretty bizarre wound that took the shape of my fishnets (no joke). Thankfully, Zensa came to my rescue!
I love to dance, but diamond-shaped scars are not the way I wanted to remember my performances. Zensa Healing Cream is steroid free and has natural ingredients such as calendula, tea tree oil, green tea extract and shea butter to help reduce itchiness from scabbing, speed healing and reduce scarring. Once my knee started itching, I used Zensa periodically to calm down the sensation. It worked like a dream and I didn’t make my wound worse. The added bonus was the really nice grapefruit smell once applied.
It didn’t take a lot of cream to get the positive effects, so I imagine my 60mL bottle will last me awhile. It’s also the perfect size for hikes or travel. You never know when something may irritate your skin, especially if you’re sensitive. For anyone who suffers from other skin conditions (ie. rosacea, rashes, hives, hives, seasonal itching), there is always a 237mL size that will last much longer.
Both sizes are now available at Shoppers Drug Mart, but if you’d like to try it then you’re in luck because the Zensa team is generously giving out free samples here.
I wasn’t familiar with Zensa until recently when I started looking into getting a tattoo this year. It turns out they also make a numbing cream that you apply before getting inked. You can bet I’ll be using this healing cream again once I FINALLY commit to a design. Until then, I’ll try to steer clear of any steep drop offs and let my poor knees rest.
