Luminesque Dance: You GLOW Girl!

For Geneen Georgiev and Vanessa Young, there was no need to fight change. In fact, these two women embraced change after stepping away from Army of Sass – and the evolution is a thing of beauty. Welcome Luminesque Dance; a new dance company that aims to help West Coast women GLOW through professional dance training and performances.

Now dancing isn’t a new thing on this blog. You may remember I started heels dancing back in January with Army of Sass. Well, after two terms and two shows, I’m ready to follow the lovely Luminesque team on their incredible new journey.

For those familiar with the old company, believe me when I say all the things I came to love about dance remain in tact. However, expect a refreshed and local approach under the Luminesque dance program. But, who doesn’t like shiny new things?!

I had the chance to try out one of the new classes during a sample week in the summer. Ever caring, the instructors are still here to push you past your comfort zone. So while Luminesque dance still provides a safe space for emotional expression, there was a lot of emphasis on the physical safety too. The teachers remain committed to teaching proper technique and form. Proper technique is not only a knee saver, but helps you engage the right muscles too. I got a good workout and enjoyed the revamped drills.

Another trial period happened in the first week of September. So, I apologize this post comes a little late. But, if you ever entertained the idea of dancing, then I say “do it!” The first classes start this week and there are still some openings. If your program is full, then there’s always drop-ins throughout the term. Learn more.

I won’t lie and say it’s always easy. It’s a challenge, but the pay off is worth it! I’ve seen this community help plenty of women conquer their fears, anxieties, and insecurities – myself included. I credit my confidence boost to this program and all the opportunities it presents to experiment and grow. These women GLOW, and the best part is the sparkle rubs off on you (literally and figuratively, haha).
Let me know if you decide to join!

G + V would be so proud. Just look at all those pointed toes!
